Sarah Burke is a mitigation specialist and private investigator with expertise in capital murder cases and other serious criminal matters. She is diligent, passionate, and creative in her approach to providing client-centered, trauma-informed advocacy in each and every case. She has been appointed in numerous jurisdictions throughout the country in both state and federal court, and has been engaged as an expert by public defender offices, non-profit organizations, Innocence Projects, and independent defense attorneys.
Sarah has been a consultant, panel presenter, and trainer at capital defense trainings and at universities, and has engaged in public policy work in Virginia in various issues regarding our criminal legal system. She has also been a regular attendee of capital defense trainings and workshops throughout the country since 2009. She is a contractor for the National Associational of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the National Association for Sentencing Advocates and Mitigation Specialists, and a member of the National Defender Investigator Association.
